Carlos Enrique Cavelier

Carlos Enrique Cavelier graduated from the University of Vermont with honors in Anthropology and Sociology and with his MPA in Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School. He also earned his diploma in Family Business Enterprises from the Harvard Business School. Carlos taught for 7 years at the Universidad de Los Andes.

Carlos served as Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture and as General Secretary of the Ministry of Justice. He was also elected City Councilman, State Senator, and Member of the Colombian House of Representatives.

For the last 28 years, Carlos has worked in the private sector as President of Alquería Dairy, leading the company from one factory in Cajicá to seven plants nationally with 4,500 associates.  Under Carlos’ leadership, Alquería was the first milk processor in Colombia and became the largest in UHT milk production in the Andean group.

Carlos has been President of the MIT-Harvard Club de Colombia and currently heads the boards of Empresarios por la Educación (ExE), Banco de Alimentos de Bogotá, and the Presidential Colombian – French Strategic Business Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Overseers at the Universidad de Los Andes and of the Foundation Board at UVA’s Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy.

Carlos has published 3 books and many articles in Colombian newspapers and magazines.
