Ted Joyce

Ted Joyce is a Professor of Economics at Baruch College and the Graduate Center, the City University of New York, and a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research’s program in Health Economics. His area of expertise is program evaluation. He has published extensively in the area economic demography and reproductive health policy. His work on abortion policy has appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American Medical Association, The Journal of Political Economy and the Review of Economics and Statistics. Recent research involves the evaluation of classroom formats on student performance at the undergraduate level. Along with his colleagues, Ted conducted a field experiment asking the how much class time mattered to student learning in an internet rich environment. He is also evaluating the effect of an honors college at a large public university on student outcomes by comparing applicants to the honors college who attended versus those who were accepted but attended college elsewhere. Other recent projects include a randomized field experiments to evaluate a breastfeeding intervention among poor and near-poor women. Ted is a co-editor of the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management.
