Batten Charity Auction

When
Nov. 5, 2016, 6:00 p.m.

We invite you to the Batten Graduate and Undergraduate Council Silent Charity Auction, benefiting the Stephanie Jean-Charles Memorial Fund. The auction will be held on November 5, 2016 at the Darden School over UVA Parents Weekend. You and your families are invited to attend.

Stephanie Jean-Charles was a Batten student who tragically passed away in the 2010 Haiti earthquake while she was home visiting friends and family. Stephanie had hoped to use the knowledge and skills she gained at Batten to improve the educational system in Haiti and to keep children in school.

The Stephanie Jean-Charles Memorial Fund reflects her inspiring legacy. The Fund, which began through fundraising efforts of her own classmates, now supports annual fellowships that enable Batten students to pursue work in non-governmental organizations and internships serving underprivileged communities both in the U.S. and abroad, and to support social entrepreneurial activities undertaken by groups of students serving those same communities.

This event has historically been hosted only by the Graduate Council, but this year, both Councils decided to come together as a community to support the cause. We really hope that you and your families will join us to celebrate Stephanie’s legacy and our Batten community.

If you are planning to attend, please RSVP.
