Grey McLean

Lecturer
Education & Training
MBA, Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, 2000
BA, Economics and Religious Studies, University of Virginia, 1995

In his teaching at the Batten School, McLean focuses on the intersection of foundations, non-profits, and public policy.

Outside of the classroom, McLean directs the Adiuvans Foundation, a private foundation focused on combating climate change in Virginia and advancing early childhood (ages 0 to 5) education and wellbeing in Central Virginia. In addition, he directs the Adiuvans Relief Fund which provides operating support to nonprofits focused on the food insecurity, affordable housing, and healthcare and mental health challenges of Central Virginia.  This experience is brought into the Batten classroom each fall.

Prior to moving back to Central Virginia, McLean was the co-founder and COO of MedAssurant, Inc. (now Inovalon, Inc.) and its predecessor companies. Now publicly traded, Inovalon is a healthcare data analytics firm that helps health plans and pharmaceutical companies use data to improve customer service, quality of care and financial performance. He serves on the boards of the Albemarle Housing Improvement Program and the Southern Environmental Law Center.
