What Can I Do With a Master of Public Policy Degree?
The Master of Public Policy Degree prepares students for a broad range of public service careers in government, the non-profit sector, consulting firms, and in selected private sector firms. Examples of organizations that regularly hire MPP graduates include: the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, the General Accountability Office, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the World Bank, the Congressional Research Service, the Department of Defense, congressional staffs, many state and local agencies, the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities, the Union of Concerned Scientists, and many non-profit organizations both in the United States and abroad. Batten School MPP students are required to perform a public service internship in the summer between the fourth and fifth years.
Last summer, Batten students interned in organizations including the U.S. State Department, the Office of Management and Budget, the House Ways and Means Committee, the Office of Senator John Warner, McKinsey and Company, the Institute for Defense Analysis, Resources for the Future, and the Maryland Governor's Office.
