Academics Batten X Coaching for Success: How Social-Impact Leaders Bring Out the Best in Their People Coaching for Success: How Social-Impact Leaders Bring Out the Best in Their People May 12-13, 2022 Alumni Hall at the University of Virginia Program Overview Leaders within nonprofit organizations experience unique challenges when it comes to developing people and building community. Technical expertise and content knowledge matter, but excellence in developing people allows nonprofit leaders to build inclusive, healthy and sustainable organizations and programs. Research indicates that a critical competency separating highly effective managers and leaders from the rest of the pack is the effective coaching of their employees. Yet, leaders and managers often lament that they do not feel equipped to effectively coach and develop their people. “Coaching for Success,” an intensive two-day workshop hosted in partnership with the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, will set nonprofit leaders on the path to establishing the core coaching competencies that are most effective in developing people and achieving organizational objectives. Join us in Charlottesville on May 12, 2022, from 9:00AM-4:00PM and May 13, 2022, from 9:00AM-1:00PM. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on both days. Impact & Outcomes Anyone who manages people within a nonprofit setting will benefit from this workshop. Through a combination of facilitated content, interactive small-group exercises, and a follow-up coaching session, participants will begin to establish core people-development coaching competencies, including: Asking powerful, challenging questions that facilitate growth and change Enhancing the competencies that deepen interpersonal connections with others Balancing accountability with non-judgmental support Learning frameworks that help managers and leaders identify biases and blind spots that inhibit performance Establishing the trust and safety necessary for people to engage in meaningful developmental relationships with their managers and leaders Learning to foster mental mindsets that motivate employees to push themselves to new levels of professional competence Program Fee: $850 ($650 for Center for Nonprofit Excellence members) Instructor: Tim Davis, Director of BattenX Leadership Coaching and Executive Development, Associate Professor of Public Policy, and certified leadership coach Program Type: Workshop Credential: Certificate of Completion from the University of Virginia’s Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy Mode of Instruction: In person workshop with virtual follow-up support and coaching for participants (approximately one month following the workshop and included in the registration fee) "Coaching for Success: How Social-Impact Leaders Bring Out the Best in Their People" is hosted by BattenX, the Batten School's executive education and lifelong learning initiative, in partnership with the Center for Nonprofit Excellence.
