Bess von der Heydt is a pre-doctoral research associate in the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia. She is working with Professors Ben Castleman and Andrew Simon on research focused on the economics of higher education. She received her BA in Quantitative Economics and Government from Smith College. She is interested in a variety of topics in applied microeconomics, including education, health, and labor, and specifically how education and social policies affect low-income families.
