Ellen Cook serves as the Assistant Director of Student Engagement at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. She provides comprehensive support and leads programming for undergraduate and graduate students, primarily advising student organizations.

Prior to joining Batten, Ellen worked with Virginia Athletics as the Director of Student Development, overseeing community engagement, leadership development, and personal development. In this role, she guided student-athletes in impactful service work, fostered their growth as leaders, and advised student affinity groups. At the departmental level, Ellen acted as the ACC Unite Designee and the secondary sport supervisor for the rowing program. Throughout her career in higher education, she has held roles spanning student development, academics, operations, and video services.

Ellen is a Double Hoo having graduated with a bachelor’s degree in media studies and psychology, and a master’s in higher education degree from the School of Education and Human Development. In her spare time, Ellen enjoys spending time with her family, reading, watching movies, attending UVA sporting events, and exploring Charlottesville’s restaurant scene.
