Batten Hour: A Conversation on the Power of Sport With Meghan O'Leary and Jill Royster

Meghan O’Leary is a 2016 Olympian and four-time National Team member with the United States Rowing Team. A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she was a two-sport student athlete (Volleyball, Softball) and Jefferson Scholar at the University of Virginia. She obtained both a Bachelor’s (CLAS ’07) and Master’s (M.Ed ’08) from UVA. After graduation she picked up rowing and is now a three-time World Cup medalist, four-time National Selection Regatta Champion, and has competed in four world championships. She most recently represented Team USA at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games. For her contribution and dedication to achieving excellence in sport, she was recognized at UVA’s 2015 National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration. In addition to her rowing career, Meghan also serves on the USRowing Board of Directors and is the Vice President of Customer Success with InstaViser.

Jill Royster has 20+ years experience leading integrated marketing efforts for well-established brands such as Sports Illustrated and Swedish Match as well as start-ups including Sentient Jet. She has traveled the globe, building partnerships around some of the world’s premiere sports and entertainment events. In 2008, Jill launched JCR Consulting to better integrate her professional experience with her personal desire to give back. Today, she advises for-profit and non-profit businesses on their marketing strategies, creating opportunities to drive both revenues and social impact. Jill graduated in ‘96 (CLAS) and now splits her time between Los Angeles and New York City. She proudly serves on the Board for SE@UVA (Batten).
