Mishal Ahmed’s current research is about the impact of ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft on the quality of taxi services. He is also looking at how relaxing the assumption that consumers are fully rational can affect price discrimination and quality choice by firms and subsequently welfare. Other research involves analyzing the implications of price-match guarantees, and studying how¬†multi-sided platforms and agents on these platforms strategically interact¬†when facing the hold-up problem.
