  • Examine how effective leadership works, why context shapes decision-making, and which strategies produce measurable results
  • Develop the analytical and leadership capabilities to deliver tangible solutions through rigorous cost-benefit analysis, data-driven decision-making, and hands-on policy experience
  • Join a thriving alumni network of public policy professionals, dedicated to collaboratively addressing the most complex and consequential policy issues of our time.

Solve Real Problems for Real Clients

The capstone experience of the UVA Batten Accelerated MPP is the Applied Policy Project, where students produce a professional-grade policy report for an actual client organization. "Especially in a period where the future of the workforce is shifting rapidly, sharpening skills like critical thinking, judgement, and emotional intelligence are more critical than ever. "I was very interested in equity policy and intersectionality. I took an elective at Batten that focused on identity politics, and it was one of the most impactful courses I got to experience at UVA. It provided real-life examples of how your identity shapes your American experience and the ways we can solve inequities that are rooted in racism, classism, sexism, and all the other -isms used to disenfranchise communities."
