A UVA Batten undergraduate public policy degree prepares you to turn purpose into impact through hands-on experience and leadership training. Graduates build careers in government, business, and nonprofits as ethical, effective leaders driving meaningful change.
Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Leadership
The Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Leadership initiates students to the many facets of public policy—from the economic and political to the psychological and cultural—and prepares them for robust participation in public life.
- Two years
- Full-Time, In-Person
- UVA undergraduate students who will have 60 credit hours and completed three prerequisite courses by the start of the program. Students do not need to have completed prerequisites before applying, but must earn a C or higher in each by August 1 of the year they begin the program.
Minor in Public Policy and Leadership
The Minor in Public Policy and Leadership emphasizes substantive knowledge, analytical rigor and meticulous research skills — all designed to prepare students for careers across the sectors.
- One to two years
- Full-Time, In-Person
- UVA undergraduate students from any major outside of Batten who will have earned 60 credit hours and completed two prerequisite courses by the start of the program. Students do not need to have completed prerequisites before applying, but must earn a C or higher in each by August 1 of the year they begin the program.
Minor in Social Entrepreneurship
The Minor in Social Entrepreneurship is an award-winning, pan-university program that empowers students to challenge the status quo and to create, innovate and lead positive change in the world.
- One to two years
- Full-Time, In-Person
- UVA undergraduate students from any major who have taken or are enrolled in Startup: An Introduction to Entrepreneurship and are in good academic standing.
