UVA’s Commitment to Access

AccessUVA: Undergraduate Need-based Financial Aid

UVA meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for every eligible undergraduate — in-state and out-of-state — through grants, work-study, and loans. If you’re transferring from the College with need-based aid, your package will be recalculated using Batten’s tuition and fees, which typically means a larger award.

Funding Options

  • Need-Based
    AccessUVA Grants & Scholarships

Need-based grants that do not require repayment, awarded automatically through UVA’s financial aid process.

  • Need-Based
    Federal Student Loans & Work-Study

Low-interest Direct Loans for students with remaining need, and federally funded part-time employment that offsets costs and builds professional experience alongside your coursework.

  • Earned
Employment at UVA Batten & UVA

Part-time staff assistant roles in Batten’s administrative units (10–20 hrs/week), plus student employment across the University. UVA policy caps all university employment at 20 hrs/week during the academic year.

Tuition and fees are only part of the picture. Review the 2026–2027 Estimated Cost of Attendance for a full nine-month budget including housing, dining, books, and personal expenses.

UVA Batten Minor

Interested in a Batten Minor?

Adding the Public Policy & Leadership or Social Entrepreneurship Minor won’t change your tuition bill — you’ll continue paying your home school’s rate, nothing more.
