Discover Internship Opportunities

Internships at UVA Batten are a critical bridge between classroom learning and career success. With guidance from the Office of Career Advancement, students secure hands-on opportunities across government, nonprofits, and the private sector, applying policy skills in real-world settings. These experiences build professional networks, strengthen resumes, and prepare students for full-time roles in leadership and public service.

Learn By Doing

Internships are the experiential pathway to professional success. They provide opportunities to build the conceptual and practical skills that can only be acquired through hands-on learning. With the counsel of our dedicated Career Advancement team, students can map out the internship best suited to their policy interests and professional development, allowing them to turn their curiosity and passion into action.

MPP Internship

A 400-hour internship during the summer between the first and second year is a cornerstone of our Master of Public Policy degree. No matter the policy field or employment sector, this requirement will challenge students to put what they’ve learned into action. Financial aid may be available for students accepting unpaid internships with nonprofit organizations and government entities.
