About
Julia Burns is the Digital Marketing Manager for the UVA Batten School. Julia brings seven years of experience in marketing and communications from both higher education institutions and the federal government. She helps lead UVA Batten’s digital presence across platforms, with a focus on performance, visibility, and engagement. Her work spans social media strategy and execution, website content and SEO, analytics and reporting, and paid marketing. She ensures that we are using data and insights to continually strengthen how we reach and serve our audiences.
Most recently, she served as a Public Affairs Specialist at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, where she managed large-scale digital and video strategies reaching millions of federal employees. Previously, she held communications roles at Brandeis University and George Mason University, where she led social media growth, launched brand standards, managed creative teams, and delivered campaigns that significantly increased engagement and participation.
Julia is a Beta Phi Mu honor society member and holds a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from The University of Illinois, and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and History from The University of Vermont. In her free time, Julia enjoys reading mystery novels, painting watercolors, and playing tabletop games with her friends.
