About
Nicholas Silvis is a pre-doctoral research fellow at the University of Virginia in the Environmental Inequality Lab, working with Professors Jonathan Colmer and Jay Shimshack. He primarily works to understanding the causes and consequences of environmental inequality.
Currently, Silvis is particularly focused on exposure to projected sea-level rise, natural disaster risks, and how a novel drinking water report card system in Louisiana affects drinking water violations. His primary interests are in environmental economics, political economics, and development economics.
He received his B.S. in Mathematical Economics and Public Policy from Gettysburg College, an M.A. in Climate and Society from Columbia University in New York, and is interested in pursuing a Ph.D. at the intersection of economics and climate science. Outside of the office, Silvis enjoys trail running, climbing, playing bass guitar, and reading.
