About
As the executive director of marketing and communications at the Batten School, Deuel leads the comprehensive communications, marketing, and brand development plan to enhance the school’s reach and advance strategic objectives in key audience areas including student prospects, students, and alumni; academic research and impact; and donor prospects and fundraising.
Before joining Batten, Deuel served as the senior director of marketing and communications at the Virginia Athletics Foundation (VAF), leading multi-channel strategies that supported the organization’s $100M+ annual fundraising goals. She built and led a high-performing team and combined research and insights into marketing and communication initiatives to support Virginia Athletics.
Prior to her role at UVA in 2022, Deuel built her career in Silicon Valley with companies such as Apple, Nintendo, and Shutterfly. In these roles, she launched products, developed teams, and built campaigns that supported awareness, growth, engagement, and brand-building.
Deuel graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a degree in business administration and earned her MBA from Notre Dame de Namur University. The Deuel family moved to Virginia from California in 2021 and have enjoyed immersing themselves in everything the region has to offer since. When she is not spending time with family and friends, you can find her watching sports, being outside, or attending country music concerts.
