About
As the Public Relations Specialist at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, Renee Grutzik helps shape and strengthen the school’s external voice through strategic storytelling, earned media, and content writing. She manages relationships with local and national news outlets to expand UVA Batten’s visibility and supports the school’s media relations strategy. She also oversees the production of Batten’s newsletters.
Before joining Batten, Grutzik served as a writing and media fellow and staff writer for UVA Today, the University of Virginia’s main news publication. There, she pitched original story ideas and conducted interviews with students, faculty, alumni, and stakeholders to write student experience and young alumni stories.
Grutzik graduated from the University of Virginia in 2025 with a major in media studies and a minor in entrepreneurship. Outside of work, you can find her trying out new recipes, hiking Humpback Rock, perusing antique stores, and listening to live music around Charlottesville.
