I am a social psychologist who conducts research on interpersonal processes. My main focus is on prosocial and antisocial exchange. A recent focus of my work has been on resolving interpersonal transgressions through offender punishment, victim compensation, apologies, and forgiveness. I also study prosocial behavior such as charitable donations and gift giving.

My research has been published in journals such as Psychological Science; Journal of Experimental Psychology: General; Journal of Personality and Social Psychology; and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. It has also been featured by the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, and Harvard Business Review.

I have taught courses on leadership, power, and organizational politics; interpersonal and group dynamics; negotiations; and technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship. I have also taught executive education programs for top management teams in both public and private sectors. In 2014 I was honored to be featured as one of the Poets & Quants’ 40 Best Business School Professors Under 40. At UVA, I teach the Foundations of Behavioral Science course.
