UVA Batten strives to develop leaders who will solve the toughest public policy challenges in today’s diverse and divided world. Realizing that experiences outside of UVA are vitally important for students to see and learn firsthand, Batten offers several global and local classroom programs where they can expand their knowledge. Batten also offers scholarships and fellowships to make these opportunities possible.

Former participants have described these travel learning experiences as transformational. This year, students have opportunities for programs in Ireland and Northern Ireland, Norway, Vietnam, Dominica and Appalachia where they will be exploring various policy topics on peace and conflict, ecological economics and sustainability, prison reform, rural development and entrepreneurship.
