MLK’s Words, Our Voices: A Batten School Collective Reading

In recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 18, please join Dean Ian Solomon, Associate Professor of Public Policy Paul Martin, and Social Equity Advisor Marrissa Jones for a virtual MLK community reading and dialogue. We invite you to drop in for as many of the sessions listed below as you would like. Each hour will begin with a reading, followed by a reflection and informal discussion on Dr. King’s inspirational words.

12:00-1:00 PM: “Drum Major Instinct” with Ian Solomon
1:00-2:00 PM: “Letter from Birmingham Jail” with Paul Martin
2:00-3:00 PM: An excerpt from "The Negro and the American Dream" with Marrissa Jones
3:00-4:00 PM: “Loving Your Enemies" with Ian Solomon
