Life at Batten

Student Life

The Batten School is small by design. Our class sizes and student-to-faculty ratio are kept low so that you may build relationships with your fellow students, faculty and other members of the Batten community—relationships that will last throughout your career and beyond. Learn more about life at Batten.

One of the most important aspects of setting yourself up for a successful Batten experience is having a comfortable living environment and knowing how to get around Charlottesville. If you are new to the area, you may have a number of questions about housing and transportation. Our Housing and Transportation page has everything to get you started.

As you look ahead to life after Batten, our Career Services team will be there to advise and support you at every stage in your career—from landing your first internship and first full-time position to making career changes long after you have graduated.

The Alumni Network

Batten graduates are in high demand. They’re recruited aggressively by government agencies, from the intelligence community to Congress, local public interest groups and NGOs, and by private-sector employers, from consulting firms to investment-risk analysts. With a focus on improving their local and global communities, Batten alumni are ever-mindful of the School’s founding purpose: to educate ethical and enlightened leaders who are prepared to work as thoughtful change-agents. As a graduate from the Batten School, you will join this elite network.
