This workshop is specifically designed to help UVA coaches develop personal-professional resilience skills and to teach those same skills to student-athletes. Over the course of four days, participants will be guided through an exploration of key scientifically-supported skills of emotional resilience — competencies that help people bounce back from setbacks and disappointments, whether athletic, personal or otherwise. These are many of the same skills that support psychological thriving and wellness, including: building close connections with others (including players and fellow coaches), taming toxic thoughts, introductory mindfulness and meaning-making. The workshop will take place Thursday, June 9, and Friday, June 10, from 8:30am–2:30pm each day. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
