Alex Arriaga is a Founder and Partner at Strategy for Humanity LLC where she and her team of expert consultants work with mission-driven organizations and those who fund them to develop effective strategies, conduct smart advocacy and analysis, and achieve meaningful results.

Work Experience

Ms. Arriaga has served in leadership positions in Congress, the White House, and non-profit organizations. She held senior positions at Amnesty International USA, including as Director of Government Relations and as Deputy Executive Director for Policy and Advocacy. Before that, she was appointed to the White House as Senior Advisor and later as Chief of Staff to the President’s Special Envoy for the Americas Buddy MacKay and as Special Assistant to President William Clinton. Before that, Ms. Arriaga was appointed as Senior Advisor in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor at the U.S. Department of State, working with Assistant Secretaries John Shattuck and Harold Hongju Koh.

The Washington Post has profiled Ms. Arriaga twice for her work to influence US policy on international rights issues and for her work locally for students with disabilities. She is an expert on international human rights and humanitarian assistance, and she serves on Boards focused on international human rights, education and disability rights.
