Prior to joining the Global Policy Center, Brooke Ray served as the Senior Manager of Food and Agriculture Programs for the International Rescue Committee in Charlottesville, Virginia. For six years she developed their New Roots program into a multifaceted food and agriculture initiative for refugees and other vulnerable populations. During her tenure, she partnered with UVA’s Batten School, Humanitarian Collaborative, School of Medicine, and Morven Farm on several student applied learning initiatives. Brooke studied Community and International Development at the University of Vermont with a focus on food systems. She has worked in Central America and the U.S. on food, agriculture and health development projects. As a community advocate, Brooke has worked to expand awareness of equity and refugee interests in local, state and national arenas and is a founding member of the Charlottesville Food Justice Network.
