Christine Jacobs

Christine Jacobs (M.P.P. 2017) came to Batten with 15 years of experience in education.  She holds a Master of Public Policy degree (2017) and a Master of Teaching degree (2001) from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Virginia Tech (1999).  Christine believes that in an ever-diversifying society, it is our obligation, as scholars and policymakers, to protect minority and low-income families from inequitable access to opportunity.  She is particularly interested in how broader social contexts, including economic, political, legal, and social climates contribute to inequity in housing, education, employment, and transportation. Christine hopes to use her experiences to help her strengthen private-public partnerships in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of policies and public services at the local and state level.
