<< Back to Faculty Paul Becker Professor of Practice Education & Training MPA, Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government BS, United States Naval Academy paul83becker@gmail.com Courses taught Leading and Implementing Intelligence Policy Areas of focus Leadership National Security Paul Becker is in his third year as a Professor of Practice at the University of Virginia’s Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, teaching courses on leadership and national security policy issues that impact the Intelligence Community, Asia-Pacific and Middle East. He served 30 years as a Naval Intelligence Officer in peace, crisis and combat with assignments as the Director of Intelligence (J2) for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the US Pacific Command in Hawaii and the Int’l Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan. From 2016-17 he led the Presidential Transition Intelligence Community Landing Team providing policy input and strategic guidance to new Administration Secretaries and senior leaders. RADM Becker founded the Becker T3 Group LLC in 2016, a Service Disabled, Veteran Owned Small Business focused on global risk management, business intelligence, cyber security and organizational leadership. Paul holds an MPA from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and a BS from the U.S. Naval Academy. A highly effective communicator and dynamic public speaker, his interviews and articles have been widely published. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a Senior Fellow with the Center for Naval Analyses and serves on several Boards of Directors and Boards of Advisors. Rear Admiral Becker is a recipient of the U.S. Intelligence Community's, Department of Defense’s and Navy’s Distinguished Service Medals, and the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations’ Ellis Island Medal of Honor. The Naval Intelligence Community recognized RADM Becker in 2016 by establishing the “Teamwork, Tone, Tenacity” Leadership Award in his honor.
