As assistant director of events and operations, Sean Michael supports the Batten School’s mission by ensuring the efficient planning and execution of key events and daily operations. Before joining Batten, he was assistant technical director at the Barter Theatre in Abingdon, Va., where he worked closely with directors, designers, carpenters and crew to transform creative visions into seamless live performances. He has toured nationally as an actor and deck manager, coordinating performances and technical operations in over 100 venues across 36 states, Toronto and off-Broadway.

Sean Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Virginia, graduating Phi Beta Kappa with distinction in three years. Currently pursuing a Master of Science in Nonprofit Administration at Louisiana State University (online), he is passionate about building efficient systems that empower mission-based organizations to amplify their impact and realize their vision. In his free time, he enjoys exploring Virginia’s scenic landscapes, delving into culinary adventures, and exploring historic sites with his fiancé and their dog, Sybil.
