As Director of Student Engagement at the Batten School, Anderson leads the development and implementation of initiatives that foster community, service, wellness, and leadership among both undergraduate and graduate students.

Before joining Batten, Anderson held multiple leadership roles at Piedmont Virginia Community College, where he served as Director of Student Engagement and Student Life, as well as Interim Director of Dual Enrollment. He brings a strong background in student engagement, first-year experience programming, and recreational sports. His expertise also includes supporting students in identity development and promoting holistic well-being.

Dr. Anderson is a double-Hoo, holding an M.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Virginia. Before that, he earned his B.S. from Longwood University. His doctoral research explored the impact of campus recreation programs on student connection and engagement at community colleges.

Outside of work, Anderson enjoys spending time with his wife and friends, exploring the outdoors with his dog Banjo, and staying active through sports such as paddleboarding, basketball, and pickleball.
