Apr 26, 2019 The Batten School Partners with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute to Provide Fellowships to Latinx Leaders CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy today announced a new partnership with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) to provide emerging Latinx leaders with access to a new model of public policy education explicitly committed to teaching leadership and generating new knowledge to solve the world’s most difficult public policy challenges. The partnership advances a diverse and inclusive leadership pipeline by providing CHCI alumni with application fee waivers and a minimum guaranteed fellowship if accepted into the Batten School’s Master of Public Policy (MPP) program. The Batten School will also engage with prospective CHCI alumni applicants each year, providing those interested the chance to connect with Batten students, faculty, staff, and alumni. “The Batten School and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute were both created to educate and train the next generation of policy leaders,” said Jeff Chidester, Executive Director of External Affairs at the Batten School. “CHCI’s leadership development programs are second to none, and we hope this partnership will attract emerging Latino leaders into our MPP programs.” “CHCI is proud to partner with the University of Virginia’s Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy to provide CHCI alumni much needed financial support to advance their education, deepen their public policy knowledge and become future policy influencers. Together, we will develop the next generation of leaders who will have a transformative and lasting impact on the Latino community and our nation.” said Domenika Lynch, CHCI President and CEO.
