Kristen Roorbach is an adjunct faculty member at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia.  Roorbach teaches on topics including Poverty in U.S. Education Policy and Special Education Policy. Roorbach received her B.A., M.T. (Early Childhood Developmental Risk), and Ph.D. (Educational Psychology: Applied Developmental Science) from the University of Virginia. She specializes in brain-based strategies and techniques, developmental research, and best practices in therapeutic intervention, general education, special education, and child development.  She is trained in Positive Behavior Support, Behavior Modification, Functional Behavior Assessment, the Responsive Classroom Approach, early childhood special education, psychopathology, and educational psychology. 

Roorbach has served as a Governor-appointed member of the Virginia Interagency Coordinating Council and held a visiting professorship in the Department of Psychology at the University of Richmond from 2012-2014. Roorbach founded The Loop Center for Social and Emotional Development in Charlottesville, VA in response to a clear need for early childhood social and emotional intervention resources in the area. Prior to founding the Loop Center, she worked to develop behavioral interventions, observation codes, and quality child care measures being implemented nation-wide as a Research Associate for the Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning at the University of Virginia.
