Jieun Pai

Jieun Pai researches social hierarchy and conflict resolution. Specifically, her research seeks to provide insight into how people can satisfy their need for status in teams and organizations harmoniously. Pai received her Ph.D. in Management and Organization from Anderson School of Management at UCLA and holds M.A. in Human Resources from University of Minnesota and B.S. in Chemical Engineering from KAIST, South Korea.

Michele Claiborn

As Director of Equitable Analysis for The Equity Center at UVA, Michele Claibourn leads the Center’s community-engaged data science work in support of a more equitable and just region. She has directed or supervised multiple community-based research projects in the Charlottesville community, including racial equity studies for the City of Charlottesville, Albemarle County, and the Thomas Jefferson Area Coalition for the Homeless.

Brendan J. Boler

Assistant Professor of Public Policy Brendan Boler specializes in management consulting, high-performance coaching, and talent assessment and selection. He has extensive experience within the fields of management consulting and banking, having worked at Accenture, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley. 

Kimberly Jenkins Robinson

Kimberly Jenkins Robinson is a national expert who speaks domestically and internationally about educational equity, equal educational opportunity, civil rights and the federal role in education. Her scholarship has been published widely in leading journals and proposes innovative legal and policy solutions for ensuring that all children receive equal access to an excellent education.

David Bartha

David Bartha is a recent graduate from the University of Virginia, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Foreign Affairs and Middle Eastern Studies and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy. David supports the Center’s mission by researching issues related to national security policy.

Betty Shotton is the Founder and CEO of Liftoff Leadership and a Partner with Berkana Consulting Group. She is a serial entrepreneur, having started and led over six companies in real estate and aviation. She is an accomplished author and speaker on leadership and is a Strategic Coach and Advisor to CEO’s and Executives.

Kenneth Redd is the senior policy director at the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), a position he has held since 2008. Prior to this, he worked on the Council of Graduate Schools and was the Director of Research and Policy Analysis for the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators.

Irma Palmer has more than a decade of experience working at the intersection of policy, politics and communications. Most recently, she was U.S. Senator Kamala Harris’s Speechwriter.

Shannon Bryan is the head of North America Fuels Marketing for the Retail business at Shell. In this capacity, he leads the team responsible for delivering Shell’s retail branded fuels marketing strategy, product portfolio, category plans, and supporting programs to drive the key customer metrics and achieve volume, share, and margin growth objectives for Shell-branded fuels in the US and Canadian markets.
